To the east

First: Genesis 2:14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

 

Genesis 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

·        Adam and Eve were driven to the east from the Garden.

 

Genesis 4:16 ¶ And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

·        East is going from the presence of the LORD

 

Genesis 11:2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

·        As man began to spread to the east after the flood. The land of Shinar was to the east of where the ark landed. the people came from the east to Shinar

 

East And The East Wind

Genesis 13:11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.

·        Lot ended up in Sodom and Gomorrah

 

Leviticus 1:16 And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes:

·        The ark and the mercy seat faced east. To enter the tabernacle one had to go east to west. Going east to west is going toward the glory of God.

·        When the ashes of the sacrifices were carried out of the court they were carried west to east taken away from the  mercy seat.          [Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.]

·        Going west to east is going away from God.

**When Joshua led the people across the river Jordan they went from east to west.

Isaiah 2:6 ¶ Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

Ezekiel 8:16 And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD'S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

Assyria carried the northern tribes of Israel to the east into captivity

Babylon carried Judah to the east into captivity.

 

From the east

To enter the tabernacle going toward to mercy seat and God's Glory one would go from east to west.

Exodus 14:21 ¶ And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

·        Exodus 15:8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. [2Sa 22:16; Ps 18:15] The east wind is the blast from the nostrils of God

 

Zechariah 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Matthew 2:1 ¶ Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, [2:2, 9] The star they followed went from the east to west .

 

God's judgment comes from the east.

Revelation 7:2, 17;12

East wind: seen in 19 verses in the Bible.

Hosea 13:15 Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.

Genesis 41:6 And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them [Genesis 41:27]

·        The east wind blasted the ears of corn and the kine showing coming drought and famine. [Ezekiel 17:10, 19:12]

Exodus 10:13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.

Psalm 48:7 Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind. [Eze 27:26]

Job 4:9 By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.
