Leviticus 16: The Day Of Atonement Part 2 The Offerings In a nutshell: Christ is Better V34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses. · How can it be everlasting if it was to cease after the veil was rent? Ø Christ fulfilled the everlasting statue with His everlasting sacrifice. Christ is the better offering! Ø Matthew 5:17-18 ¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Ø The everlasting statute was fulfilled by Christ's finished work upon the cross. (John 19:30)
Christ Is The Better High priest Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Hebrews 4:15 Both Aaron and Jesus Christ were · The man Jesus Christ, like Aaron who was In all points tempted like the children of Israel, was in all points tempted like as we are. · Both men could relate to the feeling of the people's infirmities. · The difference: the statement "yet without sin" could be applied only to the man Jesus Christ Ø Each year Aaron had to bring two offerings for himself: bullock for his sin offering and a ram for his burnt offering. Aaron had to deal with his own sin before he could intercede for the children of Israel. (Leviticus 16: 6,24) Ø Jesus had no sin of his own that had to be dealt with. He lived a perfect sinless life. Jesus was the "fine flour" of the meat offering. · Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; · Jesus did not need a miter that read HOLINESS TO THE LORD because He is truly HOLINESS TO THE LORD.

Ø Every animal offered was soon replaced. Ø John 3:16 with 1John 4:9 Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God. · Christ offered himself once. Better Blood Hebrews 9:7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Hebrews 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? · The blood of the animals did not last · The blood of Christ is cleansing 1John 1:7;Revelation 1:5; 7:14
