The remission of Sin and The Atonement

The word remission seen only in The New Testament

·       Mt 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins

The word atonement is seen only once in the New Testament

·       Ro 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

·       Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

The shed blood of the atonement is the blood shed for the remission of sin.

The blood of Jesus Christ is the shed blood of our atonement and the blood shed for the remission of our sins. The blood of the man Christ Jesus eternally locked remission and atonement together.

Remission of sin is the eternal removal of the penalty and punishment of sin through Jesus Christ and his shed blood of the atonement whereby we receive complete forgivness of our sins.

2Co 5:14-15 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

1John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

·       It dose not say for all. Why?

Remission is complete forgiveness of our sins.

·       Note how both Luke 3:3 and Luke 24:47 tie remission with repentance. V3:3 is John’s {the Baptist} message before the resurrection of Christ and includes baptism where V24:47 is after the resurrection and does not baptism.
