Paul Built Upon The Teaching Of The Gospels

One transition seen in the book of Acts is the transition from to the Jews only to the Gentiles mainly.

Gal 1:11-12 Paul received revelation directly from Jesus Christ.

Gal 2:7 Paul’s revelation was for the benefit of the Gentiles, the other sheep Jesus spoke of in John 10:16.

Paul builds upon the teachings of the four “Gospels” for our benefit.

*** “The great mystery concerning Christ and His church” (Eph 5:32) is introduced in Mat 16:18.

***“The mystery among the Gentiles Christ in you the hope of Glory” (Col 1:27) John 14:17; 10:16 introduced this mystery, Acts transitions form the Holy Spirit being with to being within.

***The Gospels introduce “The mystery of Godliness” (1Tim 3:16)

·       John 1:14, Luke 1:35 Manifest in the flesh

·       Justified in the Spirit in Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:10; Like 3:22

·       The four “Gospels” all end with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

·       The ascension is seen in Mark 16:19; Luke 24:51;

Paul builds upon Matthew 19:17 in Roman 3:10. Add Eph 2:8 and be thankful we do not have to keep the commands to be saved.

Paul wrote we are not under the law (Rom 6:15, 8:2; Gal 5:1). He could declare this because the man Jesus, the King of the Jews was the perfect servant, the perfect righteous man, not only fulfilled the law but also rose from the dead. (did not see corruption)

·       Matthew 5:17 Jesus came to fulfill the law. His death and shedding of blood is seen in the “four gospels”.

·       Notice how Paul builds upon His fulfilling of the law.

Ø    Rom 6:23 - Wages of sin is death

Ø    Shedding of blood for remission of sin seen in Mat 20:28, 26:28 with Rom 3:25 and Hebrews 9:22, 10:18

Ø    Grace is seen in only 4 verses in the “Gospels”. (Luke 2:40; John 1:14, 16, 17). Grace is in 20 verses of Romans.

Ø    Paul mentions the law of faith in Romans 3:27.

Paul builds upon Christ fulfillment of the law and his death upon the cross when in Romans 5:11 he speaks of the atonement we received through Christ. Atonement is a noun. An act that will reconcile two parties who have been at enmity with one another, usually when one party wrongs another.

·       Atonement is making a satisfactory payment: Propitiation

·       The Son of God, Jesus Christ the righteous: (Rom 3:25; 1John 2:2, 4:10 with Luke 27:43)

·       Rom 5:10, 2Cor 5:18-20

·       Mark 16:16; John 3:16-18, 11:25; 14:21; John 17:22-23

Lev 4:20 Atonement is the work of the high priest reconciling a man to God through the sacrifice offered.

While the word atonement in not seen in the book of Hebrews, it builds upon the statements in Rom 5:11 and 1Tim 2:5 by declaring that Christ Jesus is our High Priest ever making intercession for us.

·       Hebrews 2:16-17; 3:1, 7:25

·       Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

·       Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
