Chapter 1 Part 2  (08-14-16)

1: 10] Question: If you are teaching what the world wants to hear who are you serving, man or Christ? God can not be persuaded to change truth to man’s liking, man must be persuaded to align his thinking to God’s truth.

**Remember 1Corinthians 1:23 Isaiah 6:9 ¶ And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

Think about these verses

·       2Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

·       1Thessaloians 2:4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

·       Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

11-12, 20) Paul declares the Gospel he delivered was not his own design; he did not meet with others and hold a council to decide what the gospel should be. He received the gospel he was to preach directly from the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ! (Ephesians 3:3)

13-16) Paul offers the clearly seen change in his mission as evidence of his authority. He went from being a wealthy, influential Jewish leader who gave his all to destroy the name of Christ to one who was stripped of his wealth and influence and glorified the name of Christ among the Gentiles. (Philippians 3:7, Ephesians 3:8) Paul was convinced that the riches and glory this world has to offer is worthless when compared to the ability to glorify the name Christ among the Gentiles.

*** Remember Ephesians 4:1 – Do we?

17-20) Paul, again, declares the truth is he did not receive his authority or message from the other apostles.

21) Note – Tarsus was a chief city in Cilicia

22-24) Paul uses the example of how he was received by the churches in Judea as how the churches in Galatia should have received him. Paul did not start theses churches; they had never seen him yet they had heard of the change in Paul’s life and accepted the evidence for reason to glorify God and should have been commended by the churches in Galatia.  (2Corinthians 12:11 - Romans 10:15, Philemon 1:8-21(Paul had much in common with Onesimus)
