The end of the northern kingdom of Israel

2K 15:27-31,37; 2K 16:5-6; Isa 7:6-9  Pekah the son of Remaliah aligned with Syria and went against Judah and Jerusalem to put their own king (Tabeal) in Jerusalem. 120,000 men of Judah were killed and 200,000 taken captive. Ahaz the king of Judah hired Assyria to fight for Judah and Assyria defeated Israel and Syria and took control of their lands.

2K 15:30, 17:1-6 Hoshea killed Pekah and became king of Israel. He was not as bad as the other kings of Israel but he became a servant to Assyria through giving the king of Assyria gifts. When he conspired against Assyria with Egypt, the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison and carried the kingdom of Israel all to Assyria and the cities of the Medes.

The ten tribes of the northern kingdom of Israel became what are known as the lost tribes of Israel.

·       1K 9:7; 1Ki 14:16; 2K 17:7-18 The LORD removed Israel out of His sight.

·       The phrase “the sins of Jeroboam” is seen 14 times in 1st and 2nd Kings.

·       They may be lost to the world but not to God. The LORD had his remnant that left Israel to worship in Jerusalem in Judah See Revelation 7:5-8

Ø    2Chron 11:14-16 The LORD’s remnant of the 10 tribes.
