The Vial Kingdom and The Horn Kingdom

SAUL 1Sam 10:1 ¶ Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?

DAVID 1Sam 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

·       Samuel anointed Saul with a vial of oil; Samuel anointed David with a horn full of oil. The difference in the vial and horn if much more than the amount of oil each would hold.

·       The LORD knew royal line of the house of Saul would soon come to an end. [1Sam 13:14, 15:26-28]

·       The royal line of David will never end. [2Sam 7:16]

The kingdom of Saul: the vial kingdom

·       Vial and or vials are seen on only 13 verses of the Bible.

Ø    1Sam 10:1 the vial of oil poured out on Saul

Ø    Revelation 16 where the 7 vials of the wrath of God are poured out. The only other times a vial is poured out.

Ø    The pouring out of a vial is associated with God’s wrath.

Ø    1Sam 28:16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? Saul was killed in battle 1Sam 31 and his head was cut off similar as David did with Goliath.

The kingdom of David: the horn kingdom

·       Horn: power, authority, glory, honor, dignity: the first thing noticed on an animal. De 33:17, Job 16:15, Ps 89:17,  La 2:3 with Eze 29:21

·       The power of salvation: 2Sa 22:3; Ps 18:2; Lu 1:69

Ø    The salvation of the LORD

While Saul’s vial kingdom became a vile kingdom that was brought to an end, David’s horn kingdom is tied to strength, honor, glory and the salvation of the LORD.
