2#3 Age of Human Government: Worshiping God through human government.

Genesis 9:6a Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed. Human government was introduced in 9:6. Judicial authority was given to man to govern on the behalf of God

·       Note the difference in 4:15 and 9:6

Ø    During the age of conscience God had not revealed the true evil of killing another.

·       9:6b : for in the image of God made he man

Ø    In the battle of the seed Satan through his devils sought to corrupt man genetically. The giants, men of renown were the product of this genetic mutation.

Ø    The judgment of the flood was not only to preserve the line to Jesus Christ but also to protect the image of God.

·       God began to delegate authority to man. Man was given the responsibility to protect the image of God. Murder is actually a direct assault against God himself.

Acts 17:26a Noah was the father of all nations

·       Gen 10:1-2, 11:10-32 list the sons of the sons of Noah who became fathers of individual nations.

Acts 17:26b God had pre-determined the appointed time for these nations to become nations.

Acts 17:26c God had pre-determined the boundaries of the land they were to inhabit.

·       Deu 32:7-9, Gen 5:3 When God scattered the nations He had determined their boundaries based upon His portion, the nation of Israel long before Abram was born.

Acts 17:27 God had pre-determined the purpose of the nations

·       That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him within their habitation.

·       Each nation was individually responsible to seek the LORD. If one nation failed the others did not have to.

11:1-4 They disobeyed God and remained on one place. The desire to build a city and a tower to reach into heaven showed mans’ desire to remove themselves from under the authority of the Creator.

·       Man began to govern on their own behalf

·       11:4b Humanism defined: "let us make us a name" They did not want to be called after the generations of the sons Noah. They wanted one name, one nation.

·       11:4c Humanism in action: Knowing the commandment of God and choosing not to obey God, believing God’s  will can be overcome.

Ø    Nations saw no reason to worship the LORD.

·       The fallacy of humanism: Man is placed as the center of all things.

11:5-8 God is greater than the nations

·       Humanism denies the truth of God.

Ø    The truth: God is omnipotent! Man is His creation to do with as He pleases.

Ø    Ex 33:19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

Ø    Isa 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

Ø    Gal 6:3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

Ø    Ps 22:27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. 28 For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations.

Ø    Prov 8:15-16 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. 16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

Human government exists today but God is not worshipped through the governments. The failure of human government past, present and future is the humanistic concept that man can govern apart from God.

Ø    Rom 13:1-5 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Ø    The responsibility of human government has always been to dispense judgment on the behalf of God.
